Tottori Hanakairo Flower Park
Nestled across roughly 50 hectares in the foothills near Mt. Daisen, Tottori Hanakairo Flower Park is one of Japan’s largest and most thoughtfully designed floral destinations. Designed around a central Flower Dome, a gleaming glass greenhouse about 50 meters in diameter and 21 meters tall, the park offers a year-round tropical oasis featuring hundreds of orchids, palm trees, and subtropical specimens thriving in a constant 15 °C environment.

Surrounding the dome is a 1-kilometer covered observation corridor, allowing visitors to stroll and admire the gardens in any weather without opening an umbrella. Beyond this walkway, the expansive grounds unfold in terraces and natural woodland gardens that adapt to the gentle slopes of the plateau, with nature and design woven together to accentuate the backdrop of majestic Mt. Daisen.
Spring brings sweeping fields of tulips and poppies in the Keukenhof-inspired Flower Valley, created in collaboration with designers from the famous Dutch garden. As summer arrives, the vast Flower Hill awakens, a 10,000 m² canvas of violas, rudbeckia, blue salvia, marigolds, and sunflowers, with Mt. Daisen towering above as borrowed scenery and serving as one of the park’s most beloved photo spots.
Lily enthusiasts will find joy here. Around 100,000 lilies bloom from mid-May to early August, and the park uniquely exhibits all 15 native wild lily species of Japan, a nationally unparalleled collection. Additional features such as a Mist Garden with cooling spray, pond-top floating flower beds, and a seasonal carnivorous plant exhibition add texture and variety to the floral experience.

The park’s Flower Train, a miniature guided train, loops for about 15 minutes through the major areas, ideal for families or to get an overview before exploring on foot. In summer and winter, the park transforms again: the Moonlight Flower Garden lights up the expansive grounds with some 14,000 lanterns, creating softly romantic nightscapes.
Inside and around the gardens, the restaurant focuses on locally sourced ingredients, featuring dishes like crab-topped flower chirashi and specialty pear soft‑serve made from native Yurika pears. The gift shops carry original botanical souvenirs and a garden shop where you can buy plants and seek growing advice from staff.
